Crushed within!

The un-slept
Other half
Of the old bed.

The quilts/sheets
Light summers
For the hill resort.

The shrill laughter
Un-heard by the others
On dark nights
When a truant moon
Hides---behind a bank of
Grey clouds, kissed by a rough wind.

Shadows lingering in the hall
The passages and rooms.

The jasmine flowers
In the black hair bun
And the scents
Circulating in the places
Frequented by a kind being, despite
Rheumatism.

The encounters
Once, lively intoxication
Now---empty; surreal.

Black holes of the universe
Sliding within a soul
Developing cracks within---
Like the glass shattered
Of a once-cheerful home
On an abandoned farm!

LIFE
Cluster of
Leafless trees
On a sad field
Mourned by a wind.
Dust devils swirling
A broken country road
Bleak scene.
Autumn golden
Time to shed old leaves.
A tiny nest
On the top branches
Of a bare eucalyptus tree.

WHITE
---Sunil Sharma
Tulips placed in a bunch
In a slim tumbler
On the side steel table.

The little room---antiseptic
Smelling heavily of medicines
And strong sedatives.

The catheter
Dripping hope
Into the blood stream.

Time moving fast
Standing still
The same instant.

An open scripture
A pink rosary
Pair of blank eyes
Watching/non-watching.

A creaking screen door
Swinging in the hot air.

Shoes echoing in the corridors
Folks hurrying
A siren---wailing
In the courtyard.

A white- robed young medic
Glasses perched on the edge
Of a nose aquiline
A stethoscope dangling
Self-assured
Indifferent to pain/suffering.

Tulips.
Medic.
White.
Soothing.
